Context

Learning to write with clarity and autonomy does not rely solely on mastering grammar rules or memorizing essay templates. It relies on learning to critically re-read one's own drafts and sustaining repeated cycles of deliberate revision.

Escreva com Pedro is an educational product in active development, designed to transform writing practice into an intentional and reflective experience, mitigating initial blank-page friction and sustaining practice around cycles of deliberate revision.

Sprint de Escrita is conceived as a periodic experience, with one or two editions a year. Alongside supporting participants, each edition can generate classroom observations and insights to evolve the author-led solution through a product lens.

The problem

Most writing practice environments reproduce a punitive model: the student produces a full text, receives delayed feedback with superficial corrections, and has no clear starting point for rewriting.

This dynamic fuels blank-page paralysis, discourages experimentation, and hinders deliberate revision — which is precisely where lasting learning occurs.

What I am building

A calm, focused environment that breaks down writing into actionable layers: problem framing, argumentative architecture, paragraph-level clarity, and stylistic polish.

The core goal is not to automate writing with shortcuts, but to empower authors to understand their own textual choices and develop lasting critical autonomy.

Design principles

Calm first

An interface free from aggressive timers, urgent notifications, or distracting clutter. The rhythm of thought precedes typing speed.

Revision as protagonist

The experience values and guides rewriting just as much as drafting. Clarity is consolidated during editing.

Transparent criteria

Every assessment rubric makes evaluation explicit and guides the next practical action, replacing opaque scores with actionable guidance.

Competency progression

Growth is measured by consistent mastery of specific textual layers, rather than gross word count or mechanical repetition.

Current MVP

The functional foundation for Sprint de Escrita now brings together lessons, enrolment, essay submission, competency-based feedback and spaced review. These flows were implemented to support a guided pilot.

The implementation makes the complete experience testable; manual validation in the published environment and pilot learning outcomes still need to be documented separately.

What still needs to be validated

Question 01

"What is the optimal feedback granularity to encourage revision without overwhelming the writer?"

Testing the trade-off between paragraph-level micro-feedback and macro-level structural text diagnosis.

Question 02

"How should difficulty progression be structured to sustain engagement without fostering instructor dependency?"

Investigating how to scaffold prompts and progressively fade assistance as learner autonomy grows.

Question 03

"Which qualitative indicators best capture the development of writing autonomy over weeks of practice?"

Evaluating self-regulation metrics and the author's ability to independently spot argument gaps.
